Faithful Man 27.08.04
be faithful and to believe in God are two different things.
Any belief must allow as much as is possible for development of character, and require maximum exertion of a man's capabilities. In this probably, and must, consist the idea of any religion.
One cannot be 100% sure of something. Doubt gives us the ability to reason. Belief in God allows us to avoid doubt. Thus, reason and, even more so, spirituality, are lulled.
One can believe in goodness, injustice, in love, in nature, in life, and these coincide with any of the basic religious studies or writings.
Lev Tolstoy's view of life was in perfect unison with the Gospel, but he was excommunicated. However, he was not excommunicated from the thoughts and views of Jesus Christ.
Being faithful in this sense is, of course, not simple. Each of us has the right to choose.
